This has been a challenging thing for me in how to maintain a house looking like a loving home. It’s not about money as most of us usually shy away from decor thinking we either have to paint walls or buy expensive items to decor or style home. To me it’s a hobby that I have enjoyed forever since I remember.
Keeping a simple clean home is inviting and creates an uplifting peaceful calm surrounding. It can be very difficult when working and caring for family on how to make the home look beautiful and warm. I usually focus on the colors which would change from season to season. I feel the tone of the seasons the natural colors and draw inspiration from there. Therefore one does not need to spend a fortune to maintain a lovely home. surroundings look stylish and lux.
To make the surroundings look stylish and lux I love to decor with clean soft pillows, quilts, throws, candles and plants.
Here are a few simple tips that I base the styling on;
USE SEASON AS YOUR REFERENCE POINT
Every season has its own beauty which oozes life to be only captured by our spirits. The vivid bright colors of spring add joy and love to bring outdoors in. In summer white clean lines add light airy and cool feeling to rooms whereas in winter incorporating darker hues of burgundy, red, copper, dark green will bring the winter holidays vibe.
GENERAL CLEAN Have a good weekly clean removing all clutter and general today using lemon and white vinegar. I am so up on being an environmentally friendly concept and try wherever I can make those changes. Its an avenue needs to be explored fully maybe another time but to be precise we can make small changes and take small steps to keep our planet fresh and breathing. Just like we want to feel the beauty around us we need to secure the immense beauty that dwells in every part of our planet.
DO SMALL CHORES DAILY
To create pretty surroundings one has to work regularly and not pile up chores. For example put everything where it belonged. All items should have a home. Keep separate areas for things that need to go for washing or tidy. This way on weekend one doesn’t have to rummage through stuff unnecessarily.
Use old items and give them a shine, a paint or a little bit of glue. Mend and repair things still adorned. In the developed world we waste and throw items which are again not good for the environment. Things that have no value or purpose can be donated to charities and thrift stores so someone else can share the same joy.
Another tip-Old pottery looks excellent when placed with pastel items like Rattan, distressed wood and knitted or handwoven throws.
Indoor plants can be a fresh breath of air in a tired room.
It’s not essential to buy fresh flowers all the time for vases. I use simple stems from my garden in clean glass jars and they look amazing. If you have any flowering stems in your garden that can be a bonus.
Simple fairy lights enhance a dull corner. These are not pricey and can be fetched from any store.
Streamline kitchen plates, bowls and cups. They can be handy to fetch and works as display items too. Use and reuse glass containers and label them with homemade stickers. I normally grab them from the stationery section, Similar jars look clean and beautiful on shelves.
STEMS OF TREES FROM SHRUBS OR LOW LYING PLANTS IN TRANSPARENT VASES
Its been a bad state of affair in the world but I see so much hope in love and humanity. Lots of us have stepped up and held hands to help those who are struggling. We will keep our thoughts and prayers for all those in need and will reach out to good as it is that one thing that lasts.
